This series was captured high on the Tibetan Plateau, on the northern faces of the mighty Himalayas that divide Nepal and Tibet. Every single image here was taken above 4000m, and most peaks are 5,500 metres and higher, of which, the highest, is Mount Everest, 8849m, seen here from its rarer-visited Northern Face.
During this trip, we completed the 3 day kora around Mt Kailash - the most sacred mountain in Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Bön: a the symbolic centre of the universe for more than a billion people. From its foothills flow four of the major rivers of Asia: the Brahmaputra, the Karnali, the Indus, and the Sutlej. Near this holy epicentre lie the two most sacred lakes: the holy Manasarovar, and its turbulent antithesis: Rakshastal. Curious, that on our visit, the former was rippled, whilst the latter was a perfect mirror.
